Kirby’s Dream Buffet – Nintendo’s take on the hyper-colourful, bumble royale Fall Guys – is coming surprisingly soon.
Following the release of Kirby and the Forgotten Land earlier this year, the pink puffball will be coming to Nintendo Switch once again later this month. ONE short trailer (opens in new tab) appeared midway through Kirby’s 30th Anniversary concert, announcing the game’s Japanese price and August 17 release date.
Nintendo later confirmed on Twitter that Kirby’s Dream Buffet will launch globally on the same day, and its eShop in English (opens in new tab) page confirms a price of £13.49 – about $16.50 / AU$23.

Revealed last month in a short announcement trailer, Kirby’s Dream Buffet appears to combine the usual pink puffball platform with Fall Guys multiplayer competition. You will compete against other players in a series of races, arenas and challenges to accumulate points and be crowned the winner.
But it will differ from Fall Guy in a few essential ways. You’ll only face three other opponents instead of a 60-player server, as each player takes on the role of a different, customizable Kirby. It also has a distinct food theme, with each level tasking you to eat as many edible goodies as possible to finish the round with the heaviest character.
By mimicking the pet’s signature ability, you’ll be able to take the form of some of the food you swallow. The new trailer showed Kirby sprouting a swirl of frosting on his head after eating a cupcake, letting it spin like a tornado. The other power-up foods include a donut, pepper, jam, and chocolate.
To play with your friends online, you’ll need a Nintendo Switch Online membership. You’ll also be able to play local two-player co-op without a subscription.
