Major electronics brands are presenting exciting programs for Indian students to showcase their tech skills and talents. We recently had Oppo announcing a student coding contest.
And today, the seventh edition of Samsung India’s campus program ‘EDGE’, a competition for students to submit ‘solutions’ to real-life problems, began.
This year, students from 27 campuses, which include top high schools, engineering colleges and design schools, are participating in the event which is being held on campuses across the country.
“Over the years, Samsung EDGE has proven to be an enabler where students have the platform to showcase their creative solutions to real-life problems. As we enter the seventh edition of the program, we are confident that the young talents participating in the program will bring even more insightful solutions and showcase your problem-solving skills,” said Ken Kang, president and CEO of Samsung SWA, in a statement.
Samsung EDGE – Explanation
The Samsung EDGE program consists of three rounds. The first round, which is on campus, is about ideation, where team members come together and craft an executive case summary based on their research and analysis. Top teams selected in the campus round work on a case study, submit and present their detailed solutions in the regional round.
Samsung said that at the end of the regional round, the top 8 teams are selected and mentored by Samsung leaders on their respective solutions. The final 8 teams battle it out in the National Round to reach the three winning teams.
Each team will consist of at least three on-campus students across years and majors. The top three teams will receive a cash prize and a potential opportunity to work with Samsung.
In 2021, 1,730 teams across India participated in the program to showcase innovations and the AKR Menders team from IIT Madras won for presenting an innovative and customer-centric solution to reach potential consumers and provide a pleasant experience during pre-purchase, delivery and after-sales -delivery stages. ISB Hyderabad’s Purple team took second place. The second runner-up team was Trifecta from FMS Delhi.
