watchOS 9: New fitness metrics, sport modes, health features, updates and more

Apple announced watchOS 9, the successor to watchOS 8 for the Apple Watch 8 and earlier, at WWDC 2022, and we now have the release date: September 12, as confirmed at the company’s ‘Far Out’ event on September 7 .

It’s a whole new look for the new Apple Watch Ultra, Apple Watch 8, Apple Watch SE 2 and earlier Apple wearables – although the Apple Watch 3 is no longer supported, despite still being on sale – and brings improved run metrics, better sleep tracking, more medical features and carries more watch faces too.
