The mighty OnePlus 10T will be able to use AT&T’s fastest 5G networks; the first for OnePlus phones. In our OnePlus 10T review, we found the phone to be a pretty powerful and capable device, so having that performance carried over to network speeds over more networks is a real plus.
The new OnePlus 10T will work on all three major 5G networks in the US, as well as Bell and Telus in Canada. OnePlus lists support for low- and mid-frequency 5G networks, but not the more limited (albeit super-fast) 5G mmWave range.
The OnePlus 10T is now available for pre-order from OnePlus (opens in new tab), amazon (opens in new tab)and BestBuy online (opens in new tab) for USD$649 / CAD$849. In a strange pre-order scheme, you can get the upgraded device with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage for the same price as the 8GB/128GB version if you pre-order September 28, but only if you order from Amazon or BestBuy.
Until September 8, OnePlus is offering the same offer on its own website, but after September 8 you will have to pay the full price of $749 / CAD $999 for the upgraded device. OnePlus will still include a protective case or an 80W car charger.
OnePlus will start shipping the OnePlus 10T on September 29 and open normal sales on the same date. The OnePlus 10T is a mid-range upgrade to the OnePlus 10Pro, this cuts down on some camera prowess, but also lowers the price to a friendlier mid-range tier. Review: Signs of OnePlus coming of age
If you want to sell phones in the US market, the key, the door and the whole house are the cellular network operators. The more support a company offers for different networks, the more buyers can trust that they have been tested and approved for reliability. OnePlus would not be allowed to sell an advertised phone to the AT&T network without testing and approval. For a company that was a fledgling just a few years ago, this is a big sign and step.
This is important because we don’t want to recommend a phone to buyers if we don’t trust the company that makes the phones. OnePlus has a pretty good track record, but it’s still a new brand in the company of giants. It may have great parental support, but its presence in the US market is still limited.
The more work we see from OnePlus to earn the trust of US carriers, the more we can believe that OnePlus is maturing as a company, and that makes the brand easier to recommend. It could also mean we see more of the best OnePlus phones, most of which only release in markets outside the US.
